Now that you've met with your builder, you've been sent to us. What do we do and what happens next?
Design Center of Acadiana works with area builders, contractors, and designers to develop design packages aimed at making the selection process easier for all involved. While some of our builder clients have their own design team with whom DCA coordinates a flooring package, others employ the full extent of our services to specify all interior and exterior finishes. Check with your builder or their agent to determine what services they commission to DCA.
Our design packages are based on a contractor's budget and preferred vendors. Builder packages can include selection of exterior materials (brick, roof, paint colors), interior finishes (wall, ceiling, trim, door, and cabinet paint colors), and/or cabinet hardware. Our showroom is equipped with samples of the latest flooring materials, brick and roof selections, granite slab, cabinet hardware, and paint decks from several of the industry's leading brands. If you or your builder has contracted an independent designer, our showroom is available for your design meetings.
SPEC HOMES For all Spec Home packages, our Design Coordinators have put together a cohesive look for the home that conforms to the builder's budget while remaining aesthetically pleasing to a wide array of potential owners. A review appointment at our office is included in your builder's design package. Once the purchase agreement has been signed, you will meet with one of our Design Coordinators and/or the builder's designer to review the products specified for your new home. Changes and/or additions to these selections may be subject to additional product and design fees.
CUSTOM AND PRE-SOLD HOMES For Custom and Pre-Sold homes, your builder has selected one of our design packages that will allow you to meet with a Design Coordinator to chose materials and colors for your new home. Depending on the size of the home, these products are typically chosen over the course of one or two design meetings. These meetings are timed to complement the construction schedule, with exterior finishes being selected early in the construction process, followed by interior finishes and flooring. This process allows us ample time to coordinate with the appropriate subcontractors to keep your job moving in a timely fashion.
What should I do to prepare for my first meeting at DCA? With your input the selection process can be personalized to your own tastes and performance requirements. If you have an idea of what you envision your home to look like--photos, magazine clippings, Pinterest boards--we welcome you to bring those in for your appointment. In the event that there is a particular surfacing choice that you know you want to use, please bring a sample or photo to your design meeting. Have a focal piece of furniture or bedding that will make the move to the new home? A pillow case or furniture cushion can be helpful to select paint colors and materials in those areas. These items, in addition to conversations with our Design Coordinators, will assist in your decision making process. DCA will work within your budget to create a design that not only looks great, but will perform to you and your family's needs.
Ok, I'm ready. When should I come into the showroom? In order to ensure the most attention can be given to each client during these vital steps in the building process, we work by appointment only. Contact us at 337.591.5361 to schedule your appointment. We look forward to hearing from you.
